Jillian Sinel Joins Zac Posen as President

The hiring is the latest in a series of changes at the designer firm.

Jillian Sinel has been named president of Zac Posen.

Sinel will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of Posen’s business, which includes the signature collection and Z Spoke. She reports to Susan Davidson, chief executive officer of Zac Posen and Scoop NYC, both of which are owned by Ron Burkle’s Yucaipa Cos.

Most recently, Sinel had her own luxury consulting firm called the Sinel Group. Until this past August, she was at Carolina Herrera, where she spent four years as chief operating officer, and before that was with Christian Dior USA for 10 years, rising to chief administrative officer.

Sinel’s hiring is the latest in a series of changes at the designer firm. In October, Susan Posen, Zac Posen’s mother and longtime business partner, stepped aside to pursue other interests. Her change in duties followed the appointment of Davidson to ceo of Posen in September. Susan Posen remains chairwoman of the company.

These moves were made to steer the business in a new, more profitable direction based on what sources called Yucaipa’s frustration over the lack of return on its Zac Posen investment.

The last person to hold the title of president was Laura O’Connor, who joined the firm as president and ceo in August 2008 and left in the fall of 2009.
