She served as executive vice president of sales and merchandising for three years, but left the company in 2005 to consult to women’s apparel firms.
“We are so pleased to have Helaine back at Elie Tahari and know that she will be a tremendous asset to us as we continue to expand both nationally and internationally,” said Elie Tahari, the company’s chairman and chief executive officer, to whom Elias will report.
Elias is succeeding Joe Falco, who left the company to pursue other interests.
The Elie Tahari line is sold in more than 600 stores, and the designer operates freestanding units in cities such as New York, Boston, Atlanta, Las Vegas, East Hampton, N.Y., and in Boca Raton and Bal Harbour, Fla.
