Cupcakes, Champagne — and undies.
That’s what 200 guests wanted at a reception celebrating Women’s History Month and the launch of lingerie brand Empowered by You’s collaboration with Scoop NYC.
Hosted by the lingerie brand’s founder Renata M. Black and Scoop NYC’s chief executive officer Susan Davidson, the event Wednesday at the retailer’s trendy Meatpacking District store kicked off the launch of the Empowered by Scoop collection of seamless panties.
More than 100 thongs and briefs, which retail for $22 and $26, respectively, sold out in 90 minutes.
Black, who said she developed the lingerie brand with advice from Joe Corré, founder of Agent Provocateur, and Grace Nichols, former ceo of Victoria’s Secret, said 20 percent of net sales will be donated to the Seven Bar Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides loans to women worldwide to get them out of poverty and into business via microfinancing.
“There’s something very special about lingerie. It’s a universal product,” said Black.
Among the guests were actresses Kelly Rutherford and Amy Hargreaves, Fox Business News anchor Cheryl Casone, Fox News’ “The Five” cohost Kimberly Guilfoyle, ESPN sports anchor Wendi Nix, filmmaker Susan Rockefeller and filmmaker and actress Sonia Nassery Cole.
