French luxury brand Eres recently got back on track with its semiannual media presentation of swimwear and lingerie for spring.
The Chanel-owned label had scheduled a presentation in downtown Manhattan in late October, but the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy forced the company to postpone the event, said Celine Kaplan, communications director for Eres in the U.S.
“We were scrambling to find a new location and were fortunate to find the Antoine Verglas Studio, which was a perfect setting for the modernistic collections,” said Kaplan.
Swimwear in particular borrowed elements from the intimate apparel realm.
Valerie Delafosse, designer for Paris-based Eres, described the swimwear line as inspired by the Sixties, an “almost Courrèges look.”
“The Eres swimwear collection for 2013 has a modern twist, a look that plays with corsetry and lingerie elements with the use of satin and shapes of sport bras, but with zippers and black patent straps. This modern twist is the perfect step to keep swimwear fresh while still keeping form, function and fashion at the core of every swimsuit,” said Delafosse.
A key item in the swim line is a hand-screened, hand-painted motif of swirling smoke in the Requiem group.
“The range of color is highly unexpected for swimwear, like gray, while still using energetic color-blocked contrasts,” noted Delafosse. The color palette for swim includes glossy bright pink and green, electric blue, beige and magenta.
A line of “after beach” separates called Sirene is rendered in draped silhouettes of crepe jersey, while accessories feature patent bows, a treatment that compliments the use of patent straps.
“The Eres lingerie collection for 2013 has a fresh Lolita sensibility that evokes the insouciant charm of young romance.…Eres plays with a color palette of blush tones like rosy pinks, reds, tangerine, apricot and peach, and mixes these shades with delicate lace and glossy silks. It gives the collection an ultramodern look with a playful twist,” said Delafosse.
