Nicole Miller to Unveil Legwear

A licensed collection of legwear bearing the designer's label will launch during next week’s legwear market for fall.

A licensed collection of legwear bearing the Nicole Miller label will be unveiled during next week’s legwear market for fall.

The legwear is being produced under license by the Gina Group, a family-owned legwear specialist in New York, and will be shown at the Gina Group showrooms at 10 West 33rd Street.

The first-year wholesale sales projection is between $3 million and $5 million, said Paul Kubie, vice president of business development at Gina Group.

Distribution is aimed at major department and specialty stores such as Macy’s, Dillard’s and Bon-Ton. Shipments will commence in July.

“Nicole Miller is a fashion brand and is all about color and prints. We met with Nicole and her team and we felt this was a great fit. We think this is a brand that makes a lot of sense for our company,” said Kubie.

Suggested retail prices will average $15 for tights, $16 to $25 for leggings, $14 for leg warmers, $11 for over-the-knee styles and $10 for two pairs of packaged knee-high socks. A single pair of socks will be priced at about $8 and a package of two pairs will be $16.

“We’re going to be heavy on the fashion but will feature some basics,” he said.

He noted that the company is in discussions to launch a secondary legwear brand, Nicole by Nicole Miller, which will be an exclusive for J.C. Penney Co. Inc.

Gina Group also produces and distributes legwear under the licensed Steve Madden name as well as Betseyville, an exclusive label for Penney’s.
