Stargate Licensed for Byer Swimwear

The company will manufacture and market girls, junior and misses’ swimwear, as well as several infant and girls’ categories.

Stargate apparel has been licensed by Byer California, the San Francisco family-owned company, to manufacture and market girls, junior and misses’ swimwear, as well as several infant and girls’ categories.

Swimwear styles include one pieces, tankinis and two-pieces with such details as ruffles, smocking, sequins, piping, skirted bottoms and bows. Florals, animal prints and dots are among the designs. Girls’ swimsuits wholesale from $10 to $12; juniors (swim separates) are $10 to $12; misses’ swim separates are $12 to $14, and one-pieces are $16 to $18, according to Morris Bailey, who handles business development at Stargate. The lines are produced in China.

The swimwear collections are currently being shown for a spring 2014 retail launch. Stargate’s collections are targeted to Byer’s distribution which includes stores such as Kohl’s, Macy’s, J.C. Penney, Sears, Bon-Ton, Belk, Lord & Taylor and Dillard’s. Labels will include Amy Byer, Iz Byer Girl, Amy’s Closet, BCX Girl or AB Studio, depending on the retailer.

In the newborn, infant and girls’ area, Byer has also licensed Stargate to produce and market Newborn to 6X sleepwear; sets and coordinated separates; jackets; sweaters, and loungewear/non-performance activewear. It also holds the license for Newborn — 16 denim and non-denim bottoms, denim jackets and denim dresses, loungewear and non-performance activewear.

Byer California, founded in 1964, designs and manufactures trend-driven clothing for the junior, misses’ and girls’ departments for major department and specialty stores.

According to Bailey, Stargate’s first-year wholesale volume projection is $10 million for the licensed Byer categories. The collections are being shown at 231 West 39th Street in New York. Stargate’s other apparel collections include St. Tropez Swimwear, Freestyle Revolution, Baby Buns, Quiltex and Blue Epic.
