Michael Egeck Joins Nike as Hurley CEO

Former True Religion president begins new duties on Oct. 3.

Michael Egeck, most recently president of True Religion Apparel Inc., will join Nike Inc. on Monday as chief executive officer of Hurley International LLC. He succeeds Jim Calhoun, who was appointed president and ceo of Nike’s Converse unit in May.

Egeck left True Religion in August after 14 months with the company. Prior to that, he served in a variety of capacities at VF Corp., including president of its outdoor and action sports coalition and its The North Face unit.

He was ceo of Seven For All Mankind just prior to its acquisition by VF in 2007 and was responsible for launching and heading VF’s contemporary brand unit, which includes the Lucy, John Varvatos and Seven brands, following the purchase.

At Nike, he will report to Roger Wyett, president of Nike Inc. Affiliates, which houses Nike’s Cole Haan, Converse and Umbro brands, as well as Hurley.

Based in Costa Mesa, Calif., Hurley markets action sports and youth lifestyle apparel and footwear.

Calhoun in April resigned as president of Levi Strauss & Co.’s Dockers division to join Nike as ceo of Hurley, but was moved to Converse in a reorganization of the group’s management ranks the following month.
