LVMH to Develop Sparkling Wine in China

Wines and spirits division sets joint venture with state-owned agricultural company.

PARIS LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton is uncorking a new venture in China: High-end sparkling wine under its Chandon label.

The wines and spirits division of the French luxury giant has signed a joint-venture agreement with a state-owned agriculture development agency in the Ningxia autonomous region to cultivate grapes on 66 hectares of land. A new winery is to be constructed in the vicinity.

Moët Hennessy already owns Wenjun, a famous brand of Chinese white spirits.
