Bernd Beetz has been appointed a director of Quiksilver Inc., expanding the size of its board to nine.
Beetz, who recently became chairman and an investor in St. John Knits Inc., is the former chief executive officer of Coty Inc. Earlier in his career, he oversaw the perfume and cosmetics division of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton and served in a series of roles at Procter & Gamble Co.
He also is a member of the supervisory board of Douglas Holding AG. He has been on the boards of Maidenform Brands Inc., now part of Hanesbrands Inc., and SSL International.
“Bernd brings a strong brand marketing background, combined with exceptional strategic and operational expertise, especially in the areas of acquisitions and licensing,” said Andy Mooney, president and ceo of Quiksilver. “His global perspective and deep experience with some of the most recognized and respected consumer products companies in the world will be enormously helpful as we continue to strengthen and broaden our three flagship brands.”
Quiksilver owns the Quiksilver, Roxy and DC brands.
Mooney and Robert McKnight, chairman, are the only non-independent members among the nine on the board.
Quiksilver is based in Huntington Beach, Calif., in close proximity to St. John’s offices in Irvine.
