Calvin Klein Shifts Executives

Firm has promoted Steven Shiffman to president and chief commercial officer and Cheryl Abel-Hodges to global president of Calvin Klein Underwear.

Calvin Klein Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of PVH Corp., has promoted Steven Shiffman to president and chief commercial officer and Cheryl Abel-Hodges to global president of Calvin Klein Underwear.

A 20-year veteran with the company, Shiffman now oversees the global commercial operations of the brand and continues to have direct oversight of the North American Retail, Asia-Pacific, Latin American and Global Licensing businesses. He reports to Tom Murry, chief executive officer of Calvin Klein Inc.

Abel-Hodges, who first joined the corporation in 2006, will drive the strategic direction for the Calvin Klein Underwear business, including sales, merchandising, marketing and planning. She will report to Ken Duane, PVH’s ceo of Heritage Brands and North America Wholesale, and to Murry. Shiffman and Abel-Hodges will continue to be based in the New York headquarters.

The company has had a few significant changes as of late. Last month Robert Vignola stepped down as president of Calvin Klein Collection and global licensing. He was succeeded in that role by John Van Glahn, who was previously executive vice president of finance and administration at Calvin Klein Inc.

Three other departures were announced Wednesday. Warnaco Group Inc. senior executives Mark Whyman, Karyn Hillman and Martha Olson will be exiting the company in the next three months. Each played an important role leading up to PVH’s acquisition of Warnaco and in the transition that has followed, according to a statement released Wednesday. Murry said, “Mark, Karyn and Martha are all outstanding executives, and they have been crucial partners on the Calvin Klein team as we transitioned operations of the Warnaco Calvin Klein businesses to the Calvin Klein Inc. team. Their contribution over the past few months since we acquired Warnaco has been impactful.”

Kevin Carrigan, global creative director of Calvin Klein platinum label, Calvin Klein white label, Calvin Klein Jeans & Calvin Klein Underwear, will continue to be the creative head of the company’s jeans business and will liaise with the wholesale and retail teams to ensure product continuity. Bob Mazzoli continues in his role as chief creative officer of Calvin Klein Underwear, now reporting directly to Abel-Hodges.

In regards to Shiffman’s and Abel-Hodges’ promotions, Murry said, “I am confident that Steve will run Calvin Klein’s global commercial operations effectively and efficiently, and help us to enjoy continued growth. Cheryl has a wonderful track record with PVH and we look forward to her leadership over Calvin Klein Underwear, which is a key driver of our global business.”
