Collinson confirmed to WWD that she has been named the French fashion house’s general merchandise manager for the U.S. She started Wednesday and reports to Karen Watkins, executive vice president of Christian Dior Inc.
Considered a strong merchant, Collinson is best known for her long stint as head of women’s at Barneys New York, which she exited following a management shakeup in 2010 when former Gucci chief executive Mark Lee became the retailer’s chief executive officer.
In her post-Barneys career, Collinson did a stint as executive director of women’s apparel at Anthropologie.
She arrives at Dior at an exciting time for the house as its new creative director Raf Simons is to present his first collection during couture week in Paris next month.
