Maidenform Brands Inc. has appointed Malcolm Robinson as president of the company, effective immediately.
Robinson will report to Maurice S. Reznik, chief executive officer of Maidenform. The position has been vacant since July 2008 when Reznik succeeded Tom Ward as ceo.
Robinson was group president of the wholesale sportswear division at Phillips-Van Heusen Corp. (now PVH Corp.) since 2000, where he was responsible for the Izod, Arrow, Van Heusen, Timberland and Geoffrey Beene brands. From 1993 to 1999, he served as executive vice president of Gant Corp., a men’s and women’s sportswear and accessories specialist, and was executive vice president of sales, merchandising and licensing at Regatta Sport Inc. for six years.
In his new role, Robinson will oversee Maidenform’s domestic sales, marketing, design, product development and merchandising, and direct-to-consumer business.
Robinson will work at the Maidenform offices and showrooms at 200 Madison Avenue in Manhattan, where PVH is also based.
Reznik said Robinson will be a “key contributor to our future growth.”
“With more than 25 years of experience in the retail and apparel industry, Malcolm has a strong background in sales, marketing, design, merchandising and product development. We have been actively searching for the right candidate since 2009,” said Reznik.
Regarding new product initiatives at Maidenform, Reznik said, “We have introduced a collection of embellished shapewear we call the Pretty Shapewear Collection that is doing nicely across all our channels. In addition, we are excited about two upcoming launches for 2012: our Instant Slimmer shapewear collection that contains cellulite-reducing and slimming technology, and our Naturally Glam bra collection, which uses new foam technology that feels like a second skin.”
