Obituary: Arnold Seckler, Sirena Founder

He died Wednesday in Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles at 87.

Arnold Seckler, former president and founder of Sirena Swimwear, died Wednesday in Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. He was 87.

The cause of death was not disclosed.

Seckler, Brooklyn born and a Yale University graduate, founded Sirena, a women’s swimwear manufacturer, in 1959. After several years in operation, Sirena Swimwear was bought by Consolidated Foods Corp., later known as Sara Lee Corp., in 1971, and Seckler continued as president after the acquisition. In 1990, Seckler retired from the business but remained active in the industry as a consultant.

Seckler is survived by two sons, William and Robert; a daughter, Lizbeth, and a granddaughter, Nicole.
