She will play a key role in the brand development and production capabilities, and divisions such as design operations, merchandising, wholesale and off-price will report to her.
“Ginny and I share the same passion and vision for what St. John can offer to women today,” said chief executive officer Geoffroy van Raemdonck, to whom Hershey-Lambert reports. “She helped build the best brands in the world at Bergdorf [Goodman] and brings a wealth of experience as well as a real appreciation of American luxury that will drive St. John to new heights.”
Beauty industry veteran Bernd Beetz and van Raemdonck took over the leadership at St. John in September with plans to create a brand that is the “accomplice of accomplishment” for today’s women. The vision is based on founder Marie Gray’s original vision, which revolved around dressing women for success.
Beetz invested in St. John last year, became its chairman and poached van Raemdonck from Louis Vuitton. Chinese conglomerate Fosun International also invested in St. John, while Vestar Capital Partners continues to be the majority investor.
Hershey-Lambert founded GHL Group LLC consultancy last year and is a board member at Yoox North America. Prior, she was executive vice president of merchandising at Bergdorf Goodman, serving as part of the specialty store’s executive team. Before that, she spent 17 years at Neiman Marcus in several merchandising roles, rising to vice president of merchandising for women’s fine apparel.
She will be based at St. John’s Irvine, Calif. headquarters.
“St. John Knits is a brand that I have respected for many years,” Hershey-Lambert said. “The strategic vision that the executive team has put in place and the support of Vestar and Fosun positions the brand for great success. I am committed to making that vision a reality.
