Darrow Departs Vera Wang

Constance Darrow has resigned as president of creative direction for Vera Wang, making her the second senior executive to exit the company in the past week.

Constance Darrow has resigned as president of creative direction for Vera Wang, making her the second senior executive to exit the company in the past week.

Darrow joined the company in April 2007. Reporting directly to Wang, she oversaw the fashion design studio and all fashion product development, as well as the retail development and management of the designer’s freestanding boutiques.

In a statement released Thursday, Wang said, “Constance has been my right hand in design and creative decisions including the all-important retail component for nearly two years, and I am tremendously thankful for her support and contributions to the company.”

Darrow declined to comment. She was said to have been offered broader responsibilities within the company prior to announcing her resignation, but decided otherwise. She preferred to pursue a new opportunity in the fashion arena that should be announced in the near future, according to industry sources.

Prior to joining Vera Wang, Darrow was president and chief executive officer of Prada USA Corp. She also previously worked at Barneys New York as senior vice president, general merchandise manager of women’s.

Her departure from Vera Wang comes on the heels of Elizabeth Musmanno exiting the company last week as senior vice president of worldwide marketing and communications. Newly minted president Mario Grauso starts his tenure at the designer’s West 39th Street offices today.
