G-III, PVH Ink G.H. Bass & Co. Licensing Deal

Bass brand reappears at PVH.

G-III Apparel Group Ltd. signed a multiyear license agreement with PVH Corp., whereby PVH will once again design, market and distribute better men’s sportswear under the G.H. Bass & Co. brand. The line will be geared to department stores in North America and is set to launch for fall.

The move is a return of sorts for the brand, which PVH sold to G-III for about $50 million in cash in November.
Morris Goldfarb, chairman, chief executive officer and president of G-III, said PVH had “market-leading expertise in men’s sportswear, deep knowledge and experience with respect to the G.H. Bass brand, and excellent customer relationships with department stores. We believe a strong men’s sportswear line will support our efforts as we reposition the brand to embrace its casual, outdoor-inspired identity.”

Geoff Barrett, president, National Brand Sportswear at PVH, added, “We look forward to continuing to build the G.H. Bass brand with our partners at G-III in order to fully realize the potential of the men’s sportswear opportunity at department stores in North America.”

PVH opted to sell Bass following its acquisition of The Warnaco Group Inc. in February 2013 and is focusing on its Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger brands.
