Laura has been tapped as head designer of the Foxcroft Collection, a better-price women’s apparel line. Foxcroft previously was designed by a team managed by Hinson Wu, who remains creative director.
The first collection under Poretzky-Garcia’s direction will be for resort 2015.
Poretzky-Garcia will continue as creative director and designer of swimwear line Été Swim, which she cofounded in 2012. In 2005, she created another company called Abaeté, a contemporary line of ready-to-wear, which she presented during New York Fashion Week for eight seasons. The business closed in 2010. Born in France and raised between Paris, Rio de Janeiro and New York, Poretzky-Garcia began her career at Ralph Lauren after graduating from Rhode Island School of Design.
Tom Dietrich, president of The Apparel Group Ltd., which owns Foxcroft Collection, expects Poretzky-Garcia to “strengthen our brand through her feminine design aesthetic that suits the youthful lifestyle of our customers — while remaining true to our classic heritage.”
Foxcroft Collection, which specializes in non-iron dress shirts, also makes sweaters, blouses, pants and skirts. It sells to 1,200 retailers throughout the U.S. and Canada, including Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, Von Maur and Amazon.com.
