Behrens replaces Andrea Hyde, who has been acting president of Monika Chiang since the brand’s launch in November 2011. Hyde will continue to oversee the development of upcoming Burch Creative Capital brands, including No. 9 Christopher, a luxury lifestyle collection.
Behrens, who has more than 20 years of experience in women’s contemporary fashion, oversees all aspects of design, production, sourcing, planning and logistics. She’s also to be in charge of merchandising and marketing, including developing new stores and growing the brand’s wholesale business in the U.S. Behrens’ role also encompasses providing the leadership to position Monika Chiang “at the forefront of the industry,” the company said.
Behrens’ appointment comes at a critical time for Monika Chiang, which has embarked on a plan to open stores in key U.S. cities and expand its wholesale offerings domestically. The brand will be growing internationally within a year in key markets including Asia, the Middle East and Russia.
