Schiesser AG has been licensed to produce and market men’s and women’s underwear, sleepwear and beachwear under the Marc O’Polo brand in Germany and other European markets.

Beginning in spring 2015, Schiesser, a unit of Tel Aviv-based Delta Galil Industries Ltd. based in Germany, will have rights to the brand for a period of five years in European markets including Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Denmark, Sweden, Italy, Austria and Switzerland.

Isaac Dabah, chief executive officer of Delta Galil, described Marc O’Polo as “a premium, casual lifestyle brand that represents a refined standard and a preference for natural materials. Our commitment to quality and innovation will be a perfect fit for the Marc O’Polo collections, and we looking forward to expanding Schiesser’s business in Europe as we introduce the new Marc O’Polo collections in 2015.”

Andreas Baumgärtner, chief operating officer of Marc O’Polo International GmbH, commented, “We believe Schiesser’s high standards are consistent with our well-established position in the premium casual sector for creative, high-quality products, and we look forward to this licensing partnership.” 

Delta Galil acquired Schiesser in July 2012 for about $85 million. In the third quarter ended Sept. 30, the German unit’s sales were up 14.7 percent to $55.5 million, while operating income rose 14.5 percent to $7.1 million. Delta Galil’s total sales in the period rose 9.9 percent to $257.2 million.
