NEW YORK — Hip NoLIta boutique Thomas Sires has launched its own wholesale women’s collection.

Founded by Fiona Thomas and Allison Sires, who met as colleagues at Loeffler Randall, the shop opened in December 2010 with a mix of its own women’s designs, children’s wear, home decor and quaint gift items from France and Japan.
For fall, the duo expanded into a wholesale collection instilled with doses of sophistication and whimsy, at contemporary price points. The line includes about 35 styles encompassing a range of categories, including dresses, skirts, tops, knitwear and outerwear. Highlights range from merino sweater dresses in jacquard or Fair Isle patterns that retail for $415 to skirts in nubby bouclé tweed for $415, double-breasted herringbone blazers for $485 and elegant silk shirts for $225.
Interiors are finished with French seams while picot stitches, a particularly delicate finishing process that lends garments a scalloped edge, is a favored detail.
“It’s less trend-driven than about a focus on quality and timeless pieces,” said Thomas, although the collection’s classic look is leavened with quirky elements like ikat motifs and faux shearling trim. “We tend to be drawn to texture and color and print.”
So far, Thomas Sires has been picked up by Bird in Brooklyn, Little New York in Japan and the Les Nouvelles e-commerce site. It is sold out of the Timothy Heenan showroom in New York, with everything made in New York and Peru.
Located at 243 Elizabeth Street, a few doors down from Tory Burch, the Thomas Sires shop sells brands like Orly Genger by Jaclyn Mayer jewelry, La Cocotte children’s accessories and Patch scarves and candles, in addition to its own line of women’s and kid’s wear. Customers have included Alexa Chung, Carey Mulligan, Björk, Jane Krakowski and Isla Fisher.
Thomas was previously the public relations director at Loeffler Randall, prior to which she worked at Aeffe USA, Peter Som and Behnaz Sarafpour. Sires held design posts at Loeffler Randall, Trovata and Abercrombie & Fitch.
