Polartec Taps Doug Kelliher as VP of Product Management

He will be responsible for leading Polartec’s product strategy across all categories and business channels.

Polartec LLC, the Lawrence, Mass.-based innovative textile producer, has named Doug Kelliher to the new position of vice president of product management.

Kelliher will be responsible for leading Polartec’s product strategy across all categories and business channels, including outdoor, fitness, upholstery, military, workwear and medical. Polartec products range from advanced lightweight wicking fabric to insulation and weather protection textiles and are utilized by leading apparel brands, the U.S. military, and flame resistance, workwear and contract upholstery markets.

Kelliher joins Polartec with over 20 years of product management experience, most recently at Velcro Industries, where he served as business leader for its outdoor and hardware product lines. Prior to Velcro, he was the vice president of product merchandising for Studio Ray, building apparel lines for brands such as Gerry, Ecko, Izod Swim and ZeroXposur.

Kelliher’s appointment follows the recent naming of Jim Zeiba as vice president of advanced business concepts and business development, and Allison Spahr as vice president of global design.

“Hiring Doug rounds out a significant investment in our product leadership team,” said Gary Smith, chief executive officer of Polartec. “This reinforces our position as the global leader of innovative textile solutions and the partner of choice to product-centric brands. This team will work closely with our customers to solve problems, capitalize on development opportunities and ensure differentiation in the marketplace.”
