Karl Lagerfeld Sets New Web Site

Look books, an e-shop and Paris tips are among the features on the site,

Karl Lagerfeld

KARL IN CHARGE: It’s worth a visit just for the “Karl-isms.” Karl Lagerfeld’s new Web site,, devoted mainly to his new masstige collection, includes gems of wisdom and wit from fashion’s consummate overachiever. “If someone gives me a to-do list, I say ‘Thank you, this is nice.’ One needs things to throw in the wastebasket,” goes one. “The best things I’ve done in my life, I saw them in my sleep. This is why I have a sketch book in my bed,” goes another.

The quotes figure in a section entitled “World of Karl,” where one can find out where the designer buys his paper and art supplies (Sennelier, 3 Quai Voltaire), his favorite jewelry shop (Lydia Courteille, 231 Rue Saint Honoré) and optician (E.B. Meyrowitz, 5 Rue de Castiglione). Here, Web users can also view making-of images of campaigns, watch interviews and videos, and find out about the designer’s extracurricular activities. (Next up: A stint as guest editor of the May issue of French Architectural Digest.)

The site, which went live this week, also features collection look books and an e-shop: The latter will soon be expanded to additional product categories such as men’s wear, perfumes and the upscale Karl Lagerfeld Paris line, debuting for fall. The site delivers to France, Germany, Italy and Great Britain, with more European countries and the U.S. to be added soon.
