TWITTER TO MEASURE “OFFLINE SALES IMPACT”: Twitter revealed a partnership with Datalogix on its blog Thursday that measures the offline sales impact of promoted and organic tweets for domestic consumer packaged goods businesses. Early data reveal that engagement drives greater in-store sales, brands’ organic tweets drive sales and followers who see promoted tweets purchase more.
EBAY LAUNCHES NEW RETAIL PLATFORM: Ebay unveiled new technology, the Retail Associate Platform, on Thursday, a tablet solution that looks to drive revenue growth by enabling sales associates to build in-depth databases on their individual consumers — from their purchase history to their contact information.
SEPHORA BUYS SCENTSA: Sephora acquired technology platform Scentsa this week for an undisclosed amount. Scentsa most recently worked with the retailer to create the Skincare IQ platform, an interactive wall-mounted system that helps customers choose appropriate skin care based on parameters like skin type and price point.
AHALIFE GETS FUNDING: Three-year-old product discovery and content Web site Ahalife.com received an investment from William Morris Endeavor, and Ari Emanuel, co-chief executive officer of WME, has been named to AHAlife’s board of advisers.
SHOPBOP HITS RUSSIA: Shopbop launched its third locally translated site, in Russia Wednesday, at ru.shopbop.com, a key market for the e-tailer that has English and Mandarin versions of its site.
BEZOS BUYS WASHINGTON POST: Donald E. Graham, the chairman and chief executive officer of The Washington Post Co., sold the daily flagship and its related community newspaper business for $250 million to Jeff P. Bezos, the founder of Amazon.com.

MOBILE USAGE SURGES: Millennial Media and comScore released a study Friday that looked at retail consumer mobile engagement. Key findings include: time spent with retail content on smartphones has increased by 385 percent in the past three years and that the genders have drastically different in-store mobile habits — the most popular activity for men is comparing prices and for women, it’s sharing pictures of products.
GARDNER EXITS CREATETHE GROUP: Createthe Group’s cofounder and chief executive officer James Gardner was ousted from the company Wednesday, and Jamey Hargreaves of the U.K.-based Hargreaves family, which in 2009 pumped $12 million of capital into the firm, will serve as acting ceo.
NINA GARCIA TO WEAR GOOGLE GLASS: The Marie Claire creative director and “Project Runway” judge will be the first editor to cover New York Fashion Week next month by wearing Google Glass, and her photos and videos will be streamed live across Garcia’s and Marie Claire’s social media channels, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Vine and the magazine’s Web site.
