BELLA’S TV GIG: Bella Thorne is expanding her repetoire. The 16-year-old actress, musician and author will appear in her first TV commercial for junior brand Candie’s, which is sold exclusively at Kohl’s and on Kohls.com. The commercial will air during the Teen Choice 2014 awards show and gives viewers a chance to purchase Thorne’s favorite styles at exclusive prices for a limited time.
This campaign marks Thorne’s second season as the face of Candie’s, and the second year that Candie’s will be the exclusive retail apparel sponsor of Teen Choice 2014. The TV and print ads were shot by Chris Craymer.
“Shooting my first Candie’s commercial was so cool and everyone was super fun to work with,” said Thorne. “The theme is my favorite things, so we had cake, hot guys, puppies, pizza and all of my top picks from the fall Candie’s collection.”
The TV spot will air on Sunday, Aug. 10 on Fox, with a series of commercials throughout the award show broadcast, including live flash sale items including jackets, dresses and boots. Flash sale specials will be available at Kohl’s and Kohls.com from Aug. 10 to Aug. 17.
Dari Marder, chief marketing officer of Iconix Brand Group, said, “Bella is a true star; she is aspirational yet approachable and really resonates with our Candie’s demographic.” Marder declined to reveal Candie’s fall budget, but said the back to school ad budget is slightly up. Thorne will also appear in Candie’s print campaign that will run in September issues of such magazines as Seventeen and Teen Vogue, as well as online, outdoors and in Kohl’s marketing vehicles.
