CAROLINA’S CLOUD COVER: For Carolina Herrera’s fall ad campaign, Patrick Demarchelier had to weather a few torrential downpours on the streets of Manhattan before getting the shots he wanted.
When the weather eased up, the lensman shot Constance Jablonski and Eniko Mihalik as two women-about-town, striding arm in arm along the Upper East Side. The new ads for Carolina Herrera, which sells an array of products in 104 countries, will break in the September issues of international and U.S. magazines.

With the skies pretty much threatening throughout the all-day shoot, Demarchelier had plenty of reinforcement for his third collaboration with Herrera. Stylist Tabitha Simmons, hairstylist Orlando Pita and makeup artist Gucci Westman were on the set to translate the season’s inspiration.
The campaign highlights two stories from the fall collection — daywear in navy and black silhouettes of rich textured cashmere, fur and silk, and such evening looks as the designer’s red finale gown with a voluminous sculptured silk taffeta train, paired with an abstract graphic-print dress. The latter looks striking set against the quintessential New York architecture, and in this case, the gray weather was a bonus.
