BOOKISH TYPE: Glasgow Caledonian University is to confer the title of honorary professor on Dylan Jones, editor of British GQ and chair of London Collections: Men, the university said.

“This is in recognition of his outstanding contribution and achievements within the area of journalism and the business of fashion,” said Pamela Gillies, a professor and the school’s principal and vice chancellor.

The university has also awarded Jones the GCU Lifetime Achievement Award 2014. Previous recipients include Ray Kelvin, founder of Ted Baker; Ian Grabiner, chief executive officer of Arcadia, and Derek Lovelock, chairman of Karen Millen, Oasis and Warehouse.

Jones is to receive his honorary professorship on July 2 at the university’s summer graduation ceremony in Christ Church Spitalfields.
