TRICKY BUSINESS: French Connection has tapped Rankin to photograph its fall ad campaign, which stars the model Camilla Christensen — and the British TV magician known as Troy. It features stills as well as a video showing Troy performing eight stunts including card tricks, levitation, and animal illusions. “I love French Connection’s fearless approach,” Rankin told WWD. “They’re a brand that aren’t afraid to take creative risks.” The campaign will break today on the brand’s Web site.
French Connection’s marketing director Jennifer Roebuck said that brands are increasingly moving into the publishing space, “where their communication channels hold the same value as paid advertising.”
Roebuck added that all of Troy’s illusions were developed exclusively for French Connection. The company declined to reveal in which publications or online channels the ads would break.
