French Elle Taps New Artistic Director

James Eric Jones was previously artistic director of monthly magazine Be.

DIRECTING THINGS: The shakeup continues at French Elle. The fashion weekly has tapped James Eric Jones as its new artistic director, replacing Santiago Boutan, effective this week.

Jones was previously artistic director of monthly magazine Be, also part of French media group Lagardère, the owner of Elle. His replacement at Be has yet to be named, according to Inma Bevan, delegate publisher of Elle and Be.

Be was among 10 publications that were put on the block by Lagardère and are to be acquired by Reworld Media.

Tom Meredith, a consulting design director who has worked on Elle’s new layout that was unveiled in Feb. 27, has been named Elle’s creative director.

He replaces Yann Weber, who left in April after a short stint in the position. Meredith will be responsible for the magazine’s visuals and style for fashion and beauty.
