FROM A BIWEEKLY TO A MONTHLY: InStyle has recruited Leslie Farrand from soon-to-be-biweekly New York Magazine as its associate publisher, advertising, effective Jan. 2. Farrand, who spent a decade at New York Magazine, most recently as executive director of print and integrated sales, will report to InStyle publisher Karin Tracy.

Farrand’s recruitment to the Time Inc. title was revealed Monday night at a gathering of the magazine’s staff with Time Inc. chief executive officer Joe Ripp, who lauded InStyle for having the most ad pages in the fashion/beauty category for the fifth year in a row. In 2013, the magazine had 2,810 ad pages, up 4.7 percent, according to Time Inc., with a 7.3 percent increase in the fourth quarter to 833 pages.

“When I think about where Time Inc. is going, InStyle is front and center,” Ripp told the staff.
