GREIG’S NEW MAIL: Geordie Greig, the editor of London’s Evening Standard newspaper and the former editor of Tatler, is moving to Britain’s Mail on Sunday. Greig, 51, will become editor of the weekly tabloid newspaper whose circulation is just shy of two million copies. He will oversee the paper’s You and Live magazines.
Greig succeeds Peter Wright, who has been named editor emeritus, with responsibility for ethics and standards across the group of the Mail’s parent Associated Newspapers’ publications. Greig stepped down from Tatler in 2009 to take up his post at the Evening Standard, which he transformed into an earnest free sheet that crusades for the rights of Londoners. The paper, which has a daily circulation of 700,000, has mounted campaigns to promote child literacy and road safety, and regularly reports on crime and poverty in the city.
