HONORING WELLS: “I think Linda Wells is going to have everyone in stitches tonight,” said one colleague of Allure’s editor in chief, a few minutes before she took the stage at Cipriani 42nd Street on Thursday evening. She didn’t disappoint, as she accepted an award at the DreamBall, in front of dozens of Condé Nast executives — including chief executive officer Charles Townsend, president Bob Sauerberg and editorial director Tom Wallace — and a room full of beauty-industry veterans. “You know how we have office husbands and wives?” Wells said. “Well, I’m a polygamist.” She went on to thank Townsend as her “voice of wisdom,” and Allure executive editor Kristin Perrotta as her “trophy wife.” Creative director and “partner in crime” Paul Cavaco was also given the spa treatment. And it turns out the duo also has the same sense of humor. “We even watched the Paris Hilton sex tape in the conference room together,” Wells admitted. “How many office husbands can you do that with?”
Other honorees were Jonathan Zrihen, president and chief executive of Clarins Groupe North America, and former Olympic gymnast Shannon Miller.
Guests included Kelly Ripa and Lauren Bush Lauren, wearing a long black Ralph Lauren gown and Feed Clarins pouch. Bush Lauren had just returned from her honeymoon on Italy’s Amalfi Coast and seemed pleased about how few details have been published about her wedding to David Lauren. “It was a small, intimate wedding, and we asked people to be respectful and not take pictures,” she said. When asked if the photos will soon be published in a magazine, Bush Lauren declined to reveal where they could land. “We’re figuring that out now.”
