INSTAGRAM APP: Instagram on Tuesday unveiled Hyperlapse, a stand-alone video app, just in time for New York Fashion Week. Hyperlapse allows users to film a video at a lower frame rate than typical Instagram videos but have the playback occur at a standard frame rate. This makes motions — think close-up fashion shots or models walking down the runway — take a longer time, so the viewer can watch a fashion show in its entirety in just seconds. According to a blog post published by Instagram, a Hyperlapse video can be shared on users’ Instagram and Facebook accounts.
Until now, Instagram videos have been limited to one speed, but the new app allows users to select normal speed (1x) to 12x, with a default mode set at 6x. Currently, the app is only available at Apple’s App Store.
