Hearst Corp. tapped Kristine Shine as president of the San Francisco Chronicle and its Web site SFGate.com on Monday.
Shine, 43, comes to the daily newspaper after a six-year stint as chief revenue officer of PopSugar, a blog specializing in celebrity news. She will start her new job on January 20.
“Kristine has the experience to effectively build our digital businesses in a rapidly expanding market,” said Mark Aldam, president of Hearst Newspapers. “In addition to her hands-on sales development background, Kristine has proactively developed new product experiences to connect brands with the audiences they want to reach.”
Succeeding former president Joanne Bradford who left the Chronicle in November, Shine also held posts as vice president of sales at Spot Runner in 2008 and as director of sales for Microsoft from 2004 to 2008.
