Le Monde Taps New Managing Director

The French daily newspaper is building a team to oversee its digital reforms.

AS THE WORLD TURNS: Le Monde has named Jérôme Fenoglio managing director, the French daily newspaper said Monday, adding that his “mission will be to pursue reforms on the editorial level — print and digital.”

Fenoglio will report directly to Gilles van Kote, who was appointed Le Monde’s interim director on May 15, following the resignation of Natalie Nougayrède the day before.

Forty-seven-year-old Fenoglio has been with Le Monde since 1991, where he held numerous positions, including editor in chief of and most recently senior reporter.

The new announcements follow several weeks of crisis at the title, most notably regarding reforms for the paper’s transition to digital.
