IN THE OPEN AIR: Pamella Roland is still in a TJ Wilcox state of mind. After sponsoring the artist’s solo show at The Whitney Museum of American Art earlier this year, the designer has drawn from his all-things-urban sensibility for her fall ad campaign.
While his “In the Air” is panoramic film of New York City spotlighting icons and personalities such as Andy Warhol and Gloria Vanderbilt, Roland said she was struck by “this idea of the interesting personalities that are a part of the New York City lore as much as the city itself that gave her and [photographer] Nigel [Barker] the idea to shoot outdoors on location. TriBeCa seemed to be the best area that captured the evolution of New York as it is now a prestigious neighborhood that was once primarily warehouses and commercial spaces.”
“The show was an exciting look at New York City and the wonderful personalities and stories that make this city one of a kind.” Roland said.
Barker shot model Anne Verhallen in various locations downtown, making the campaign the company’s first one to have been taken outdoors. The images will debut on the designer’s Web site and additional images are slated to run in Town & Country, Manhattan magazine, Michigan Ave, C Magazine and on Style.com during New York Fashion Week.
