Eilidh MacAskill is heading back to London — this time as editor in chief of British In Style, published by Time Inc.’s U.K. subsidiary IPC Southbank. MacAskill came to America a year ago to become deputy managing editor of the U.S. In Style, where she helped then-managing editor Charla Lawhon oversee the magazine’s day-to-day operations and assisted in an extensive redesign. In September, Lawhon was named editor, In Style Group, overseeing all editorial operations of the flagship title, the 14 international editions, instyle.com and specials. Ariel Foxman took over as managing editor. MacAskill came to In Style in November from U.K. fashion title Happy, published by Northern & Shell. “We’ll miss her creative energy, but I’m glad Eilidh will be staying in the In Style family. The U.K. edition is well-positioned for 2009, so it’s great timing for Eilidh and for In Style U.K.,” said Lawhon. MacAskill is replacing Trish Halpin, who is moving within IPC to become editor in chief of Marie Claire U.K. Halpin takes over there from Marie O’Riordan, who resigned.
MacAskill’s last day at the U.S. edition is Feb. 2; the magazine has not yet named a replacement. In Style U.K. was launched in 2001, and two more international editions are expected to be introduced in 2009. — Stephanie D. Smith
