Rolling Stone has named Michael Provus as its new publisher, following last week’s resignation of Chris McLoughlin, who spent 11 months on the job.
Previously, Provus had served as associate publisher of the music-centric magazine since 2010. Before joining Rolling Stone parent company Wenner Media, he worked at GQ as national advertising director, and he also served as Vanity Fair’s advertising director.
“Michael is a proven leader at Rolling Stone,” said David Kang, chief revenue officer of Rolling Stone and Men’s Journal. “With his extensive network and sales expertise, Michael will help us grow the Rolling Stone brand across all platforms.”
Most recently, Provus had been working closely with Gus Wenner, head of digital for his family’s company, on developing a digital film documentary series called Rolling Stone Films.
