REICHL IS BACK: After spending a month in a cabin in the woods of New Hampshire, Ruth Reichl was headed back to New York City on Thursday as news broke that she’d accepted a job at Random House. “I’ve been talking to them for quite a while,” she told WWD. “I will be acquiring books and I’m very interested in thinking about the digital future of food books.” Reichl, who will take on the title of editor at large, said she has a lot of ideas and will be looking for people to carry them out. “I don’t want to tell you what they are because then somebody might take them,” she added.
While staying at the MacDowell Colony in Peterborough, N.H., during the month of September, Reichl said she’s been working on a novel. As part of her relationship with Random House, she will continue to write her own books, with two new works of non fiction on the way, including a memoir of her years at Condé and a cookbook, “The Tao of Ruth,” in addition to her debut novel, “Delicious!”
