Britt Aboutaleb Named Managing Editor at Yahoo Beauty

Bobbi Brown has made her first big hire, poaching Aboutaleb from Allure, where she spent less than three months.

YAHOO’S ALLURING HIRE: Bobbi Brown, editor in chief of Yahoo Beauty, has made her first big hire, poaching Britt Aboutaleb from Allure, where she spent less than three months. Aboutaleb, who was named multimedia director at the Condé Nast-owned magazine at the end of March, will become Brown’s number two, starting Monday.

Her official title is managing editor, a role that will consist of executing Brown’s editorial vision and handling the day-to-day work of the site. This will include assigning and editing all product-related reviews, beauty features and interviews.

“Britt Aboutaleb is smart, innovative, and an amazing addition to the Yahoo Beauty team,” Brown said. For her part, Aboutaleb, who served as editorial director of beauty site Byrdie.com and worked as fashion news editor at elle.com and editor in chief of Fashionista.com, said: “I’ve worked in digital startups and in traditional print, but what’s awesome about Yahoo is the chance to work in a startup atmosphere on a much larger scale.”
