NEW YORK — Susan Plagemann, currently publisher of Cosmopolitan magazine, published by Hearst Magazines, has been named vice president and publisher of Lifetime magazine, a new women’s magazine that will be published jointly by Hearst and Lifetime Entertainment Services.

The appointment is effective Monday.
She will report to Michael Clinton, executive vice president, chief marketing officer and publishing director of Hearst Magazines.
Donna Kalajian Lagani, who continues as senior vice president and publishing director of the Cosmopolitan Group (Cosmo and CosmoGIRL!) will reassume the publisher’s duties at Cosmo. Lagani had served as Cosmopolitan’s publisher from 1995 to 1999, when she was promoted to her current post. She continues to have overall responsibility for Cosmopolitan and CosmoGIRL! and reports to Cathleen Black, president of Hearst Magazines. CosmoGIRL!’s publisher is Kristine Welker.
Plagemann was named publisher of Cosmopolitan in October 1999, prior to which she was associate publisher, advertising, from 1997 to 1999.
Lifetime will launch in March as a bimonthly title with a rate base of 500,000.
