Naked Brand Group Inc. has launched the next installment of its celebrity “Exposed” campaign with actor Tyler Blackburn.
Blackburn’s claim to fame is the ABC Family series “Pretty Little Liars” in which he appears as Caleb Rivers, a bad-boy computer hacker. A spin-off titled “Ravenswood” premiered in October.
Blackburn is part of a series of revealing profiles of celebrities the Naked company has planned into 2014. He is the second celebrity to appear in the Naked brand of men’s underwear campaigns, which kicked off last summer with Josh Henderson of the TNT series, “Dallas.”
The campaign featured on Thenakedshop.com is rendered in a playful format that includes a video interview with Blackburn, who discusses his views on what it means to be “naked,” along with a photo shoot by fashion photographer Walid Azami.
Dressed in several styles of men’s underwear and T-shirts by Naked, Blackburn is captured at the edge of a pool, playing a guitar and lounging comfortably in a modern California home.
Describing the casual yet sexy look of the campaign, Blackburn said: “Naked translates to being really raw, being open, and making yourself available for truth.”
Blackburn, who in real life prefers music, hiking, surfing and the great outdoors — not computers — said he didn’t feel “naked” while shooting the campaign.
“I felt comfortable and peaceful….We had a great day during the shoot. We had a great view of the hills and had eclectic music playing throughout the day,” said Blackburn. “The fit and fabric of Naked’s underwear makes you feel secure but not restricted. The garments move with your body in a very natural way.”
Joel Primus, president and chief executive officer of Vancouver-based Naked, said the marketing strategy is “aimed at creating meaningful ties between the company’s products and the fashion sensibilities of celebrities.”
“Tyler is a guy who goes after life but also knows how to chill out and be comfortable. We respect that about him and that’s why he was a perfect for our ‘Exposed’ campaign,” explained Primus. “Tyler’s shoot was a lot of fun. He was incredible to work with and willing to take risks. He literally dove into the task.”
