MILAN — Berluti, the luxury men’s brand under the LVMH MoëtHennessy Louis Vuitton umbrella, has laid the foundation stone of its new factory, which is set to inaugurate within the first semester of 2014.
Designed by Paris-based Barthélémy & Griño Architects SAS., the 86,00-square-foot factory, which is located in Italy’s Ferrara, where Berluti was established in 1985 by Alessandro Berluti, will allow the brand to considerably increase its production.
The factory, which will count 290 employees, will also host a school aiming to transmit Berluti’s craftsmanship and know-how in the production of luxury men’s shoes to the young generations.
“This a milestone in the story of Berluti,” stated Berluti president Pietro Beccari. “With the laying of the foundation stone of the factory, which will enlarge the production of the brand, Berluti expands, looks at the future with confidence and contributes to the creation of new jobs in the Ferrara area, which was hard-hit by the earthquake last year.”
