Corneliani hosted an event Tuesday night in Shanghai to celebrate the opening of its flagship in that city. The store opened in the middle of December but the company opted to wait until now for the grand-opening celebration.
Guests started the evening at the store, which is located in Citic Square along Nanjing West Road, one of the city’s most famous shopping streets. The unit was designed by Daniela Podda and Paolo Ponti and is the brand’s 40th one in China. It features an exterior with interlocking bronze rings, the design of which is repeated in the wood on the interior facades of two of the floors. The interior design is similar to the company’s Milan store and includes anegré, leather, suede and patterned microfiber fabrics, macassar ebony paneling, polished stainless steel finishes, marble floors and carpeting in dark brown, sand and light gray.
The festivities then moved to Shanghai’s Bauhaus-style 1933 building, where guests watched the brand’s latest mood videos. That was followed by a runway show of the company’s fall 2013 collection at a circular sky theater.
