Men’s Wearhouse Forms Deal With TheKnot.com

Retailer will be the tuxedo provider for the popular Web site.

Men’s Wearhouse has entered into an exclusive agreement with TheKnot.com under which it will be the tuxedo provider for the popular Web site.

“As the largest tuxedo rental service company in North America, we are excited to announce this formalwear marketing relationship with the number-one wedding planning resource, TheKnot.com,” said Doug Ewert, chief executive officer of The Men’s Wearhouse Inc. “Brides will now be able to view Men’s Wearhouse’s complete tuxedo inventory selection on TheKnot.com, as well as have direct access to our proprietary ‘Build-a-Tux’ tool, which allows a bride to easily conceptualize and coordinate outfitting the groom, groomsmen and father of the bride on her big day.” The “Build-a-Tux” tool allows brides to browse more than 2,000 tuxedo styles and accessory color combinations.

David Liu, ceo and cofounder of XO Group Inc., parent of TheKnot.com, said the company is pleased about its tie-up with Men’s Wearhouse.

The association also allows men to choose which of the more than 900 Men’s Wearhouse and Tux locations bridal parties can pick up and drop off their tux rentals.

The deal extends into Canada, where 117 of the company’s Moores Clothing for Men stores will also be participating.

Ewert said the deal with TheKnot will not affect the company’s long-standing association with David’s Bridal, where Men’s Wearhouse serves as the company’s tuxedo rental partner. In August, David’s Bridal was acquired by the private equity investment firm Clayton, Dubilier & Rice.

“We have a long-term agreement with David’s that remains unaffected by the new ownership,” he said. “Our new relationship with TheKnot does not impact the David’s relationship but rather serves to strengthen our formalwear business.”
