ATLANTA — Pony International has signed an endorsement agreement with Wilson Chandler, the New York Knicks 2007 first-round draft pick, for the re-launch of its performance basketball line this fall.
Footwear will be in sporting goods stores this fall, while men’s apparel will follow in early 2008. Pony will add women’s and children’s apparel in late 2008.
The apparel will be launched under three sub-brands: Perform, which includes basketball uniforms and team-related apparel; Play, a group of lifestyle and basic casual apparel, including warm-ups, track jackets, windbreakers, shorts and T-shirts; and City Life, which is similar to Play but in vintage styling. Total Luxury Group has responsibility for producing the apparel under a licensing agreement. The apparel is moderately priced, according to Colin Brickley, Pony’s public relations and sports marketing director.
Pony is launching a national advertising campaign this month that will run in various magazines, including Sports Illustrated and ESPN.
