LONDON — Pringle of Scotland will show its spring 2014 men’s wear collection in London, rather than in Milan.
“We are looking forward to launching our men’s wear range in London in June 2013,” Pringle of Scotland chairman Douglas Fang told WWD. “The growth of London Collections: Men and the work that the [British Fashion Council] has done to make it an important part of the international fashion calendar in such a short space of time is impressive. And as a British heritage brand we are proud to become a part of it.”
“We are so pleased to be back in London,” added a source close to the decision. “It makes sense for us as a brand. This is the home of Pringle and we see this as a long-term move.”
The company, which has been a fixture on the Milan men’s schedule since 2000, will stage a presentation at a venue and time that is yet to be revealed.
Meanwhile, Dylan Jones, chair of London Collections: Men, unveiled the upcoming lineup for the men’s shows at an event at the British Consulate in New York.
“I am particularly pleased that Burberry [has] decided to move to London from Milan, a move which shows their dedication to London as the home of men’s wear,” he said. “This season is even busier than last, with appearances from Jimmy Choo, Paul Smith and Rag & Bone proving that London Collections: Men is not just a showcase for great British designers but a platform for international designers and brands, too.”
Paul Smith will hold a presentation, and Boss is to host a cocktail reception on June 17. Alexander McQueen, Oliver Spencer, Jonathan Saunders and Richard Nicoll all remain on the official schedule, while Tom Ford, Nicole Farhi and Christopher Kane will hold private appointments for press and buyers.
Away from the catwalk, London Mayor Boris Johnson will host a reception to celebrate the city’s men’s wear talent; Esquire is to team with Jimmy Choo for a party; Duchamp will hold a drinks reception; Jonathan Newhouse and Tommy Hilfiger are to host a dinner; Ralph Lauren and Port Magazine will throw a party at the RRL store, and Tracey Emin will join Jones in hosting a dinner to wrap up the showcase.
London Collections: Men, which will run from June 16 to 18, is to feature more than 60 designers and brands, and this season a new venue has been added to the roster. In addition to the official venues of the Hospital Club (which remains the event’s hub) and the Old Sorting Office, Victoria House will act as a third official venue to accommodate the growing list of designers.
