Billy Reid to Open New York Store

William “Billy” Reid is gearing up to open his first New York store for his latest self-titled collection.

NEW YORK — William “Billy” Reid is gearing up to open his first New York store for his latest self-titled collection next month.

The two-floor, 1,800-square-foot space, located on Bond Street near Bowery, will offer a wide selection of men’s apparel and accessories, including woven shirts, selvedge denim, handmade shoes and luggage, along with a capsule collection of women’s apparel—available in its entirety only in the New York shop and online. The boutique will also house a made-to-measure atelier featuring hand-tailored clothing.

Reflecting his unpretentious Southern roots, Reid furnished his latest shop entirely with reclaimed materials, from the floors (wood slats recovered from an Abbeville, La., cotton gin) to the ceiling, made of rescued schoolhouse doors.

Reid’s inspiration for the new store’s secondhand decor was his own home in Florence, Ala., which he and his wife remodeled with found materials and antiques.

“We wanted the store to look like an old home,” he said. “We try to use residential treatments within all our stores, but I’ve always wanted to use 100 percent reclaimed materials in a shop. This project has been so much fun to do.”
