NEW YORK — Bob Green, a long-time men’s wear executive, has joined Faconnable as president of North America.
Green, who most recently was executive vice-president of St. John, has also had stints as CEO of Vestimenta USA and executive vice-president of sales and marketing for Ermenegildo Zegna and J. Schoeneman over the course of his career.
Faconnable has been staffing up to become a more visible presence in the U.S. market since it was purchased for $210 million last year by M1 Group, a diversified family-owned company based in Beirut, Lebanon. M1 bought the business from Nordstrom, which had purchased the 58-year-old brand in 2000 for $169 million, and started selling the collection exclusively in its stores in 1989. The brand has estimated sales of about $220 million.
In an interview with DNR from Faconnable’s Nice headquarters Thursday morning, Green said that his initial goals are threefold: to “continue our great partnership with Nordstrom, to continue to open our own retail stores—three are scheduled for 2009—and to open, for the first time, our wholesale distribution in America.”
He acknowledged that there’s “a lot of my plate,” but said that he was “excited” at the challenge.]
Green will work closely with Yonni Mrejen, vice-president of U.S. retail and operations, who will now report to him. “Yonni is still a very important part of the business,” he said.
Green will be based in New York at the company’s soon-to-be-completed headquarters at 48th Street and Fifth Avenue in New York City.
