NEW YORK — Marchpole, the British men’s wear manufacturer and owner of the Jean Charles de Castelbajac label, has been placed into administration, the U.K. equivalent of Chapter 11, according to a regulatory announcement from the London Stock Exchange Tuesday.

As reported last week, shares in the company, which holds the license for Emanuel Ungaro men’s wear and which distributes the DKNY Black Label line in North America, Europe, Africa, the South Pacific, Asia and the Middle East, had been suspended pending clarification of the group’s financial position.

At the time, the company had said trading conditions were “extremely difficult” as a result of the deterioration in consumer markets, following the ongoing global financial crisis.

On Tuesday, a Marchpole spokeswoman declined any further comment or clarification on the future of the company.
