NEW YORK — Less than a week after Nautica announced plans to discontinue its license with Lanier, the VF Corp-owned brand has already lined up a new clothing partner: Smart Apparel U.S.

Nautica said Tuesday that Smart Apparel, a subsidiary of the Chinese apparel conglomerate Youngor Group Co., will make and distribute men’s suits, suit separates, trousers and sport coats under the Nautica nameplate for the U.S. market beginning with fall 2009.

Smart Apparel U.S has held the license for Nautica dress shirts since 1995.
